This year's Parade of Nations 1st prize for student float went to the AISES/SHPE float (link to picture). The theme was Dancing With Diversity.
The American Indian Science & Engineering (AISES) Chapter at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech ) is located in Houghton, a town in western Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Michigan Tech /AISES membership is open to Native students and professional community members. Its purpose includes providing a supportive environment for Native American students and to provide opportunities for Michigan Tech, and surrounding communities, to learn about Native American culture.
Michigan Tech /AISES is the local chapter of the national AISES organization which provides financial scholarships, job fairs, leadership training, and national conferences to support its members.

Events sponsored by Michigan Tech /AISES include the Annual Native American Speakers’ Forum, followed by the Spirit of the Harvest Powwow, held on October 23rd-24th, 2009.
